How to Check TAN Status Online

Applicants of TAN and PAN can check the status on the tin-nsdl.com portal. Find the link below and do as per the guidelines.

  1. Here is the link to the nsdl portal: https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/tan/StatusTrack.html
  2. Select TAN as your application type.
  3. Enter the 15 digit acknowledgement number. It is issued at the tme of application.
  4. Also, provide your complete name.
  5. If you have applied for TAN as a firm, you may only mention your surname.
  6. Select the date of birth in the case of an individual. In the case of a firm, enter the date of partnership deed or date of incorporation.

Submit the details to view your TAN registration status. This procedure will inform you the TAN status in a minute. If there is any discrepancy, in your documents, it will be reflected in the status messages. For more information, you may contact the authorities.

TAN Online Status by SMS or Phone Call

Offline TAN status tracking is also quite simple. Use the TAN call centre number of the NSDL. Call 022-27218080 and inform your acknowledgement number. The NSDL call centre agents will assist you with your TAN registration.

SMS facility also let you know your TAN registration update. Send and SMS as given below to the number 57575.

You will receive you TAN status on your mobile in few minutes. It is recommended that you send an SMS from your registered mobile number. The same number you have provided in the TAN application form.

How To Apply for TAN with TAN Application Form

Application for TAN registration can be made online or offline. It requires a nominal payment. Payment is accepted online as well through DD or cheque. Form 49B is to be submitted for TAN application process. Users can download the Form 49B from the tin-nsdl website. the link is shared here for your ready reference and download.

Once you fill up the form and submit it, you will receive a 15 digit acknowledgement number. The number serves as a proof of your TAN application. Preserve it to check TAN status in future. You can also keep a print out for your records.

The DD or cheque should be sent to the address of NSDL, Pune. Also, mention on the envelope ‘APLICATION FOR TAN – (acknowledgement number).

Make sure that the payment reaches NSDL office within 15 days from the date of application.
